Is It Possible To Be Too Focused?

We were raised in a system that teaches you to play it safe, take no risks and keep your head down to get the job done.

…but what if we did more than that?

I believe the best things in life come from engaging with others and taking risks. For me, engaging is another word for living.

Every time I start a conversation with someone, online or not, I discover new things and create new opportunities for myself.

One Day I Walked Into A Japanese Restaurant…

My husband and I love to  try new food places. This Japanese Restaurant was new in town, so we went there for a bite.

The owner was very friendly and I was eager to know more, so we started a conversation.

Even though the intent was to go for dinner, by engaging in a conversation, I now have a new friend that is helping me study the Japanese language and inspires some blog posts.

You Don’t Have To Be An Extrovert.

There’s this stigma around introverts and extroverts. I can write about this later, but the point is: you don’t need to be an extrovert to talk to people.

It’s a skill anyone can develop. It all starts with one comment or one question.

I’m not saying it’s easy. I’m just saying it’s worth the try.

How many other opportunities out there are we missing out on just because we’re to afraid to do something about it?

…It’s Pretty Much Like A Sidequest.

One of the things I love the most about RPG games like Dragon Age or The Witcher is that we are free to explore the map and discover new quests by just talking to NPCs. We usually call those sidequests, since they’re not related to the main story and are completely optional.

It’s really easy: with the click of a button we find a new story that leads to an exciting adventure.

The question is: Why are we so scared to do the same thing in real life, with real people?

Engage Today!

I know you can do it. Reach out to someone you look up to. An artist. A writer. An engineer. Anyone! Social media makes it so easy. Tell them how they inspire you. Share the love!

If you think you’re bothering them by sending an email or a tweet: I’m pretty sure you’re not. Who doesn’t like to hear they’re helping out someone?

Sidequests are fun. Enjoy the ride.

What Was Your Last Sidequest Like?

Remember any cool story that happened because you started a conversation or dared to do something out of the ordinary?

Please tell us all about it in the comments below (I adore these kind of stories!).
